How Do Honeybees Get Their Jobs? | National Geographic
Every honeybee has a job to do. Some are nurses who take care of the brood; some are janitors who clean the hive; others are foragers who gather pollen to make honey. Collectively, honeybees are able to achieve an incredible level of sophistication, especially considering their brains are only the size of sesame seeds. But how are these jobs divvied up, and where do bees learn the skills to execute them? ➡ Subscribe: https://on.natgeo.com/4p5A0D6 #NationalGeographic #Honeybees #Jobs About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. Flight of the honeybee
The buzzing sound that you hear emanating from a honey bee is the sound of its four wings beating at 200-230 beats per second. Bees can fly at an average speed of 15 miles (24 km) per hour and can travel up to 6 miles (10 kms) from their hive in search of forage. Bees have two wings on each side of their body which can hook together to form one large pair, helping to achieve greater lift when flying and then they can unhook for folding when not in flight. Aside from these incredible flying feats, a bees extremely thin wings are capable of carrying large loads of nectar and pollen equalling the bee’s own body weight! Wings like these could really come in handy when foraging for bargain this holiday season. Happy Beekeeping! https://honeyflow.com
