About Me
My name is Gino Franceschetti and I am a beekeeper with 15+ years of beekeeping experience. I am a member of the Ontario Beekeeper's Association. Head beekeeper at Kingbridge Centre located in the Township of King/King City, and additional bee yards in Tiny Township/County of Simcoe. I hold a M.Ed., teach introductory beekeeping at Seneca Polytechnic, beekeeper and mentor at Seneca, and provide mentoring programs to others who want to dive into the world of beekeeping.
I am enrolled with Cornell University in the Master Beekeeping program. I am fascinated with these "bugs in a box" in the way they live in communities, the many roles they play throughout their stages of life and their importance in the ecology of food and plantation. Bee populations in the world have been threatened by climate change, mono-culture and pesticides. Fewer bees mean fewer pollinators, fewer crops and less plant diversity. Bees are part of the biodiversity on which we all depend for our survival.
